Repetition
In the exam I want to do repetition as I like the way you can make such an interesting photograph out of simple objects and just moving them around and changing angles.
The photographer that has inspired me is Lisa Milroy because I like the way that she used the same objects in different colours and sizes therefore that doesn't make the photograph boring. I also like the way she sets the objects up and that they are all over the place rather than just placing them in a row because it makes the image look more interesting. She was born on the 19th January 1959 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Lisa Milroy is a contemporary still life painter known for painting everyday items such as clothes, shoes and vases in the form of collections. She uses positive and negative space, painting her subjects in formations such as grids, groups, lines, rows and columns, often on plain backgrounds. Sometimes her arrangement of objects are influenced by their functional identity, so that, for example, stamps become islands for the eyes to travel between or wheels speed forward at an unstoppable visual pace.

my response to albert renger patzsch / photoshoot inspired by him
I took and edited this image in response to Albert Renger Patzsch.
I took the original, copied it and then flipped it over to make it look like a reflection. It is also linked to Andy Warhol in some way because I changed the colours in each layer and that's what Andy does. He repeats the image and changed the colour of each one. |
andy Warhol - photographer 2
I am inspired by Andy Warhol because I like the way he repeated the objects and changed the colours and the brightness. I have been using Photoshop to make my photographs appear in the style of Andy Warhol, I've repeated the image and adjusted the colours.

refining my ideas in response to andy Warhol/developing my ideas
Firstly, I repeated the same photograph so there's 4 copies, afterwards I changed the colour of each of them however I left one of them original which is the bottom left.
The way I changed the colour of the image was: 1) Image 2) Adjustments 3) Hue/Saturation. That's how I changed the colours of each image , this is an image in response to Andy Warhol however it also links to Lisa Milroy as images repeat. |

1) Firstly, I repeated the original image 4 times on Photoshop.
2) Then I went on hue/saturation and changed the colours of each image. 3) Then I started playing around with it more because the first edit looked too dull and boring for it to be in Andy Warhol style. 4) In the second one, I played around with colour balance and made the colours brighter and gave some colour to the background to make the image look more lively and so it looks like its in the style of Andy Warhol. |

REFINING MY IDEAS / DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
.
For my design development I am going to combine two photographers together. The picture has been taken in the style of Lisa Milroy however, I will edit it in the style of Andy Warhol. It is shown in order below what I have done.
So, I have started with one picture of the light bulbs. I have opened up Photoshop and repeated the same image so that there is 4 of them and went onto colour balance to give each layer a different colour. After that, I went on: Image> Adjustments> Vibrance and increased the brightness to make the colours brighter and also the contrast to make it look like it's in the style of Andy Warhol.
I have experimented with Composition, Colour, Contrast, Brightness, Media/Technique and the photographer's influence. |
Refining My Idea 2.
Firstly, I have again in Photoshop repeated the images so that there is 4, and went to; Image> Adjustments> Colour balance to make them all different colours. However, all I did is increased the brightness to make the image brighter because Andy Warhol makes them bright as well and the contrast and that's it. I have experimented with Colour, Composition, Lighting, Media/Technique, Photographer's influence, Contrast and Brightness.

Refining my idea 3.
I started off with the flowers I put 3 more copies on a canvas afterwards I rotate them slightly (they are all the same). And I went onto hue/saturation changed the colour of each one then onto colour balance to make the colour look more lively and after i decreased the brightness to make the flowers darker. Then i increased the contrast to make the flowers black. I decided to have the background white so that the images of the flowers would stand out. i experimented with Composition, Scale, Colour, Image, Photographers influence, Media Technique and Lighting. |
Developing my ideas further photo-shoot.
resolving my final ideas.
I have put the images in order and increased the brightness and contrast and went on hue and saturation and changed the colour of each layer.
This is a photograph taken in the style of Lisa Milroy. However, edited in the style of Andy Warhol (Pop Art). I have also tried it out in black and white >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> |
My final piece 1
I have used a range of images that I have too before and I have edited each on with hue/ saturation and made them a little bit brighter also I have used colour balance and changed the colour of each one.
my final piece 2
All I have done is put those images I have taken in order and went on hue saturation and made them all similar colours.
My final pieces.
EVALUATION
I began this project by searching a variety of artists and photographers whose work expressed the theme of repetition. I particularly responded to the work of Andy Warhol. His images are imaginative and skilful and I was keep to explore how to edit in the style of Andy Warhol and the types of objects he photographed. I also responded to Lisa Milroy because her images are very meaningful but on the other hand very simple.
I have explored a range of media, processes and techniques in this project. I have experimented with; composition, scale, colour, image, photographer's influence, media/technique, background and lighting. I have found the technique of Lisa Milroy very challenging and it took me a long time and plenty patience to make real progress.
I am pleased with my final outcomes because they represent how I feel about the theme of Lisa Milroy. I have chosen to display them in a particular way because I am satisfied with the exam and I wanted the audience to see the meaningful photographs and successful outcomes. If I had more time I would like to explore the theme of Albert Renger Patzch in even more detail by taking more photographs in the style of him but unfortunately I lost all of my images of wine glasses.
